Soundproof Glass Thickness
2022-08-04
Soundproof glass is also known as noise reduction glass.
Ordinary speaking, the common glass thicknesses used in soundproof and noise reduction windows and framed glass doors are as follow:
1. Insulating glass: 5-20mm depends on the numbers of the layers.
2. Vacuum glazing: A 10mm vacuum glass is 1.5 times better than ordinary insulated glass in sound insulation.
3. Laminated glass: Much thicker than vacuum glass and insulated glass.

In terms of sound insulation performance, vacuum glass is also better than insulating glass. This is because the gas inside the insulating glass is inert Argon, which has better performance in sound insulation than air, while the vacuum glass uses a high vacuum chamber to block the sound transmission.

The sound insulation and noise reduction performance of vacuum glass are based on the fact that sound does not travel under vacuum conditions. The sound insulation of tempered vacuum glass reaches 39 decibels (reported by CTC National Inspection Group), and the sound insulation of general insulating glass is about 28 decibels.
By using Landvac vacuum glazing, you will make your home environment as quiet as a library even if your resident house is located near the airports, viaducts or main roads.
Note: The higher the sound insulation, the better the sound insulation effect. For example, the outdoor noise is 75 decibels, after using Landvac tempered vacuum glass, the indoor sound is 36 decibels (75-39=36), and the library is generally below 40 decibels.

Of course, the sound insulation performance of insulated and laminated glass is also excellent in some scenarios. For details, please refer to this article
